Barrett-Jackson Stretches Its Scottsdale Auction to Nine Days in 2027
The collector-car company adds a second weekend at WestWorld, a bigger vehicle docket and more room for charity sales. Hotels and restaurants get a longer January.
Scottsdale’s January just got longer. Barrett-Jackson will run its 2027 Scottsdale auction for nine consecutive days, Jan. 23 to 31, at WestWorld of Scottsdale. The schedule spans two full weekends, and the company expects to put well over 2,000 collectible vehicles across the block.
Old Cars Weekly reported the expansion on Sept. 17. The auction house also plans a larger automobilia docket, the signs, gas pumps and memorabilia that collectors chase alongside the cars.
Why a second weekend matters
Barrett-Jackson CEO Craig Jackson framed the move around demand and local spending. He said the expansion “drives a massive economic boost for Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix area through extended tourism and hospitality revenue.”
Bidders, consignors, dealers and spectators fly in, book hotel rooms, reserve tables and fill rideshares. A second weekend gives those visitors more reasons to stay longer or to come back. For Scottsdale resorts, Old Town restaurants and the shops near WestWorld, that means a fuller stretch of late January before the February rush of the WM Phoenix Open and the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.
The company has not published an economic impact figure for the longer schedule, and we will report one if it does.
The week, day by day
The auction proper runs Jan. 23 through Jan. 31. Two events set the stage:
- Jan. 21: the Rock The Block concert
- Jan. 22: the Opening Night Gala
- Jan. 23 to 31: nine days of live auctions at WestWorld
Barrett-Jackson will also hold a Coca-Cola Family Day with STEM programming aimed at young car enthusiasts. Consignments, bidder registration and general tickets run through Barrett-Jackson.com.
More room for charity cars
Charity sales have long been part of the Barrett-Jackson show. The company says it has raised more than $173 million for over 200 charities since 1971. Barrett-Jackson says the two-weekend format gives charity lots “prime-time visibility” to raise millions of additional dollars. If you have watched the broadcast, you know the moment: a single charity car can pull a packed arena to its feet.
What it means for Scottsdale
Barrett-Jackson traces its first auction to 1971, and its Scottsdale sale sits at the center of what collectors call Arizona Car Week, when several collector-car auctions land in the Valley within the same January window. A longer flagship auction stretches that window and pulls more of the collector crowd into town for a second weekend.
If you run a Scottsdale business that serves visitors, mark the dates now:
- Hotels and resorts: expect demand on both weekends, Jan. 23 and 24 and Jan. 30 and 31.
- Restaurants: plan staffing for the gala night on Jan. 22 and for weekend dinner service near WestWorld and in Old Town.
- Retail and services: detailers, drivers, event planners and caterers should line up bookings early.
For residents, the practical advice is simple. North Scottsdale traffic around Pima Road and the Loop 101 will run heavy for more than a week, so plan errands and airport runs with that in mind.
